Care Marks 10th Anniversary With Adoption Special Celebration
July 24 - August 1, 2010

Capistrano Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) kicks off its 10th Anniversary of rescuing and adopting homeless and abandoned animals with a "Take Home Some Love" Celebration, offering available cats for adoption from Saturday, July 24, through Sunday, Aug. 1, at just $100 (regular price $135).

CARE volunteers will be on hand at the San Juan Capistrano PetSmart in-store adoption center from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on those two weekends to accommodate prospective pet parents.

Music at the Library

Featuring two-time Grammy award winning Brazilian singer, guitarist, and songwriter Dori Caymmi will perform two shows in the courtyard. Seating is open so come early for a good seat. Attendance is usually lighter at the 8:30 show.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Dinners will be availabe for purchase at the first show from Ciao Pasta for $9.

Zorro Double Feature! In old Spanish California, the oppressive colonial government is opposed by Zorro, masked champion of the people, who appears out of nowhere with flashing sword and an athletic sense of humor, scarring the faces of evildoers with his Mark. Kicking off Zorro month at the library at 7 pm on Friday, August 6 is Douglas Fairbanks in the silent Film The Mark of Zorro. Next in line at 9 pm on August 6 is the tongue-in-cheek 1981 film Zorro, the Gay Blade. Zexy, zany, Zensational! A $2.00 donation supports the library. Living History Day
Take a step back in time and experience the romance of the Mission! Individuals portrayed, include Native Americans, founding padres, Soldiers or Leather jackets, Weavers and Gold Miners. For many years, the Living History Society has helped history come alive for visitors to the Mission. This group of dedicated volunteers, entertain adults and children of all ages, while sharing their love of history through the characters they portray.

Second Saturday of each month 11:00 am - 3:00 PM Authentic demonstrations and costumes. Free with Mission entrance.

San Juan Capistrano Architectural Walking Tour
Architecture buffs may want to sign up for a walk through 200 years of architecture in the city. The walkincludes adobes, Spanish-era dwellings and streamlined modern building s covers about a mile on level ground and lasts 90 minutes.

A donation of $5 per person is requested. All proceeds support the Friends of the Library. Prospective walkers should call 949-489-0736, and meet at the train depot on Verdugo Street in San Juan Capistrano at 10 AM on Saturday.

Walk of Faith Church Hymn Sing Potluck
1st Saturday of the Month

We will sing together in four parts the Hymn of the Month and share our memory verses. Be sure to bring something to share for the potluck, just in case the nourishment from God doesn't completely fill you up.

This year, this annual festival will present 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', 'Much Ado About Nothing' & 'The Merchant of Menace - A Old World Melodrama', a specially created Melodrama set in Old Capestrano Italy. Performances will be in the Historic Town Center Park as well as on the main Stage of the Camino Real Playhouse. See all three shows for one price!

Capo Valley Symphony
The Mission presents a Symphonic Celebration Series with Sunday Evening Pops Concerts by the Capistrano Valley Symphony, May - September featuring classic symphony sounds and show tunes and popular music from the 40's to the present day in the beautiful Mission courtyard.

The music began at 6:15 p.m. each evening; 2009 Dates: May 30, June 28, July 26, August 29 and September 20

Music Under the Stars
Featuring dining and dancing in the beautiful Mission courtyard to a variety of live music including Big Band, Latina, Top 40 and more!

Concert runs from 6:30-9:30 pm. Seven concert evenings are scheduled for 2009. Tables are available.

Multicultural Art Series
The Series provides multiple shows each year, with one show per month from November through February, and 2 shows per month the rest of the year.

Concert times are 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). Performances last about one hour.

J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center Annual County BBQ

Over 1500 attendees attend this traditional family barbecue in a casual setting featuring live country western entertainment, activities for children, live and silent auctions and riding demonstrations throughout the evening. All proceeds benefit the programs of the J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities through horsemanship.

Vintage at the Mission - October

An annual celebration produced by the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce to commemorate the return of its famous, small swallows to their winter home in Goya, Argentina. Includes dancing, entertainment, dining and wine tasting.
